SIGCOMM Travel Grants

I was asked by the SIGCOMM program chairs to remind everyone that there are travel grants available, especially for students, postdocs, and junior faculty.  Since the conference is far away this year (India), they've tried to get a lot of travel support.  They've extended the deadline to 11:59 pm PDT on June 12, 2010.

Information can be found here.

Hi Michael,

The way the travel grant app is written they don't want authors or coauthors of papers to be applying. Most advisors would shoot their student for submitting a poster (even with a travel grant) for such a far away (read: expensive and with time-consuming travel) conference that's likely to be poorly attended by American collaborators, even some of those with papers. Especially with such an early NSDI submission this year.

So who are the intended targets of the travel grants anyway? I guess it's mostly Europeans and Asians that have a significantly shorter and less expensive commute. We should probably be putting this info in these wide calls for more travelers.

It is not a bad idea to give grants to students & other deserving people. we should appreciate them. Here you can also get some accommodation packages or get an accommodation in a hotel at very cheap rates from Hank Freid on a single click. I also get an apartment as well
